My life class tutor Jimmy said something profound that made total sense today; that I don't really draw for the fun of it at the moment. Everything I do has to be finished, polished, agonised over. Even my so called 'sketches' seem like panels from a graphic novel that doesn't actually exist. I'm not really sketching in the true sense of the word...so I'm no longer exploring my art, feeling it, trying new things out, or taking risks. I was drawing a figure today, from life, and found myself drawing all the lines very carefully....even the ones that I was eventually going to fill with pencil shading to delineate the shadows...like I would if

If anyone's actually reading my sporadic journal entries, howabout suggesting some subject matter for my next sketch/ sketches? Characters you'd like to see me draw, either because my style lends itself, or maybe because it looks totally out of my comfort zone? If you have any ideas drop me a comment after this, and I'll pick some of the best suggestions. Each successful idea I'll dedicate to the poster. I'm not exactly gifted with free time because it's the summer hols and the kids are at home, but I'll do my best to do as many as possible!
